William Hurt

William McChord Hurt (born March 20, 1950) is an American stage and film actor. He received his acting training at the Juilliard School, and began acting on stage in the 1970s. Hurt made his film debut as a troubled scientist in the science-fiction feature Altered States (1980), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year. He subsequently played a leading role, as a lawyer who succumbs to the temptations of Kathleen Turner, in the well-received neo noir Body Heat (1981). Like everybody else, Blake Pellerin (William Hurt) has a past. Unlike everybody else, he's running for the Governor of Missouri, so his past is under intense scrutiny as he rushes from one appearance to the next. Blake handles it well, trading barbs with his opponent, while managing to maintain a strained relationship with his wife. When a reporter begins asking questions about Blake's political mentor, Kim Mennaker (Hawthorne), Blake starts to get a little nervous. A strange note left in his room leads Blake to a meeting where he finds Mennaker intending to blackmail him with incriminating photos. Now Blake finds that there's no one he can trust as his campaign and life unravel.
