Virginia is a 2010 film by director Dustin Lance Black, starring Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Emma Roberts, Carrie Preston and Toby Jones. The movie takes place in a small town, where Virginia (Jennifer Connelly), a mentally unstable woman, has a two-decade affair with a local married sheriff, Dick Tipton (Ed Harris). The project was filmed in Michigan thanks to a state program offering incentives to the entertainment industry. The film was screened on September 15, 2010 at the Toronto International Film Festival. From filming up until its film festival screening at TIFF, Virginia was titled What's Wrong With Virginia. Although the film received a standing ovation at it's festival premiere it received some mixed reviews that inspired director Dustin Lance Black to make significant re-edits to the film for the upcoming US LESS
