IS JOHN MCCAIN THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE? Video

The Movie, The Manchurian Candidate, has figured prominently in the 2008 Presidential Campaign. The movie, orginally shot in 1962 starring Angela Lansbury and Frank Sinatra, and the remake starring Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington, revolves around a POW who is interrogated and brainwashed by his captors, returns back to the US a hero, and his interrogators use him to attain the White House. References in the news media have been made to both John McCain and Barak Obama as the Manchurian Candidate. However, the reference most closely resembles John McCain. Senator McCain was a POW from 1967-1973, and upon his release, he is immediately regarded a hero in the US There is a famous picture of a young John McCain shaking a then President Richard Nixon. Several years later, he begins his political career, rises quickly through the ranks, and is now running for US President. The movie, with a few detours, closely resembles this path.
