Iceland's large Katla volcano threatens eruption Volcanic eruptions are a part of life in Iceland but they can sometimes affect other countries as well. The 2010 Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption grounded air traffic across Europe. Now, threatening global disruptions and flooding from melted glaciers, recent tremors around the much larger Katla volcano indicate that it may be nearing eruption as well.
