Still in Texas, the team make it to the finals, but find that the coach of the rival team is Coach Katowinski's old assistant, who is now in a wheelchair. Coach finds out that the other coach might be able to get a great position coaching a college team, but it all depends on the outcome of the game against Deering, who is favoured to win. Coach Katowinski feels sorry for him and gives the team the impression that he wants them to the throw the game.
