Korea does a school drama, and does it well (think something of a mix of Dream High and The Breakfast Club). Based on a highly popular Japanese manga, God of Study is a compelling underdog story of competition and romance. Pulling in stellar ratings that almost hit 30% in the final episode, it stars Yoo Seung Ho (Warrior Baek Dong Soo), famed actress Bae Doo Na (The Host, Gloria), and film actor Kim Soo Ro. Kang Suk Ho (Kim Soo Ro) may not be exactly successful in his career as a lawyer, but the last thing he expects is to be called back to his old high school. Run-down and full of slackers and teenage delinquents, he's been called in to deal with the administrative details of the school being shut down, and has no idea it will change his life forever. Wandering the school halls, he's struck by the plight of the students there, who, like him, come from mostly poor families and bad home situations. Inspired, he strikes a bargain with the school board: give him a year to turn things around. During that year, he must raise the grades of five students enough that they get accepted to Korea's top university, Chun-Ha-Dae. Suk Ho picks troublemaker Hwang Baek Hyun (Yoo Seung Ho), sweet Gil Pul Ip (Go Ah Sang), headstrong Na Hyun Jung (Ji Yeon), rich slacker Hong Chan Doo (Lee Hyun-woo), and lazy Oh Bong Goo (Lee Chan-ho). Drawing them together in a special class with the help of teacher Han Soo Jung (Bae Doo Na), Suk Ho sets out to help them change their lives. Soon, the five misfits who couldn't be more different have formed an odd bond, and romance, conflict, and miracles ensue.
