Pop quiz: if you grew up in the '80s, what, most likely, was a Thursday night tradition in your house? Answer: Watching Family Ties. It is Family Ties, and the introduction of Alex's first real girlfriend Ellen Reed in the show's fourth season (1985-86), that started making me the hopeless romantic I am today. So I decided to make a video about the first TV couple to capture my heart, Family Ties' Alex P. Keaton and Ellen Reed, played by Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan, who will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary one week from the date this video was originally posted. All clips are taken from the two-part season 4 episode "The Real Thing," and the complete fourth season of Family Ties will be available on DVD on August 5, 2008.
