Elsie Janis (1889-1956) was an exceptionally popular American entertainer, noted also as a composer (such as this song) and screenwriter. She gained extraordinary fame for her efforts entertaining US and Allied troops during World War I. This 1912 recording is performed on a period instrument, a 1907 Victrola VTLA.
