Egypt's Suez Canal open despite unrest
Despite the ongoing social turmoil in Egypt, the crucially important Suez Canal has suffered remarkably little disruption, shipping sources say. A rally by disgruntled Suez staff on Wednesday came as thousands of workers in firms owned by the Canal authorities went on strike over pay and conditions. But a shortage of customs officers is apparently not hampering traffic. "In fact, the Egyptian authorities have been very proactive," said Wally Mandryk of Lloyd's List. ... www.euronews.net
