Dudley no better than Hayward, says Louisiana Parish President
By Alastair Good in The Gulf Of Mexico When Bob Dudley was announced as the replacement for Tony Hayward, at least one man in the Gulf didn't expect any real change. "He came out with us and saw the oil in the Barrier Islands,' explains Plaquemine Parish President Billy Nungesser, ' and he agreed BP should pay for them to be cleaned up. Then we called a summit with the other Parish Presdients and the Governor and 20 minutes before we started, we got the call he wasn't coming." According to Nungesser BP offered no explanation as to why Dudley didn't show but in Plaquemine Parish they are quite used to being let down by BP. From the beginning BP denied that oil would hit any part of the parish and Nungesser says this denial continued even when the Barrier Islands and then the marshes were contaminated. "I don't believe they had the right person in charge, they wouldn't come and ask locals about what was best to do, they just denied, denied, denied."
