Delightful Hayley Mills Video

I grew up watching her films, and I even had the LP soundtrack of her signature film, "The Parent Trap" (1961). I wasn't surprised later when I learned that she was a teen sweetheart of the early 60s generation. The London-born actress comes from a distinguished thespian family - her father, Sir John Mills was one of Britain's top actors, gracing the stage and screen, her mother, Mary Hayley Bell, was a talented playwright. Her older sister, Juliet, is an accomplished actress in her own right, while younger brother Jonathan is a producer. Hayley won her first screen role when director J. Lee Thompson decided to rewrite the role of a young boy in "Tiger Bay" (1959) as a girl as he was so impressed with her naturalness. The film was a hit and marked the first of several times that she would costar with her father onscreen. It also impressed Walt Disney, who signed her to a five-year-contract after her success (and special Oscar win) as "Pollyanna" (1960), the poor but cheerful orphan who lights up the lives everyone she meets. "The Parent Trap" , in which she played dual roles as identical twins, immediately followed and was an even bigger hit.
