Daniel Petrie - Archive Interview Part 9 of 9 Video

In his 9-part (each part is posted separately) oral history interview, director Daniel Petrie Sr. (1920-2004) recalls his introduction to television directing in Chicago in the 1950's, working on programs including Stud's Place and Billy Rose's Playbill. He also talks about his experiences directing episodes of such anthology series as The US Steel Hour, The Alcoa Hour, Armstrong Circle Theatre, Excursion, Justice and Omnibus. Next, he discusses his directing assignments in the 1960's and 1970's, including The Bob Hope Chrysler Theater Show, The Defenders, Ironside, Marcus Welby, MD and Medical Center. Finally, he touches upon some of his feature film work (including "A Raisin in the Sun"), as well as his made-for-television movies such as Sybil, Eleanor and Franklin, The Dollmaker, Kissinger and Nixon and Inherit the Wind.
