investigators now know what sparked thea 27-thousand acre track fire near raton -- that destroyed multiple homes- and caused 500 people to evacuate. eddie garcia joins us now with what investigators think sparked all this trouble. eddie? yeah- new mexico state forestry service tells me-- exhaust particles from an a-t-v in the area-- is what most likely caused the dry brush to catch fire. according to findings from investigators the a-t-v driver or drivers tspassed onto private property then headed onto land owned by the burlington northern santa fe railway. the fire started- last sunday-- the 12th. investigators say whoever is responsible could face multiple charges including criminal trespassing and improper handling of fire. the fire has burned over 27- thousand acres and has caused serious damage to the raton watershed, damage to a gas pipeline and has displaced livestock. the fires 45 percent contained. however-- all remaining evacuation orders- were removed this morning. as for the investigation-- deputies really want your help. if you have any information about who may have been in the area when this fire broke out-- you are asked to call the colfax county sheriff's department. heather- back to you
