January 20, 2011 Through the generosity of the Philadelphia Flyers and team captain Mike Richards, were afforded the opportunity to host this event in Mike's personal VIP Suite "The Captain's Corner". Great hockey, a world class sporting venue and the resources of professional sports management executives were presented to the student athletes and their parents representing high schools from the greater Philadelphia area. Student athletes participated in personal career evaluations, research, planning and a great Q&A with Zach Hill, Senior Director of Communications, Barry Hanrahan, Assistant General Manager and Kate Wells, Community Relations Intern and student at Temple University about what it takes to succeed in the highly competitive industry that is professional sports. All three echoed the same sentiments: Follow your dreams! Work extremely hard and be willing to make sacrifices! Thanks to the Flyers & Mike Richards for the opportunity (and his 2 goals vs the Senators in a 6-2 win) and Zach, Barry & Kate for passing along some inspiration to our students.
