When the Shining Time lady came to me I thought Hey heres a chance to show something else, this is could be a side that I could show, you know, gentle, child-like. I was taking the place of Ringo, Ringo Starr played it before me, so that makes me the anti-Pete Best. One of the nice things about it that has won me a whole generation, apparently, of admirers who know nothing about me except little man in the little blue suit, and when I do run into one of these kids at the airport and the parents say Thats him, thats him, go over an say hello and the child is completely fucking traumatized because Im out of uniform and Im way too big. And I had to say to them gently, Im not on the Island of Sodor ...
