Smithy runs outside to meet her and she finally declares her undying love for him. But their happiness is short lived when Kerry is mercilessly shot by the evil Gabriel and gunned down in Smithy's arms. Smithy cradles her as she is left fighting for her life. An ambulance arrives to take her to hospital and Smithy remains at her side. When arriving at St Hugh's Hospital, Smithy looks on helplessly as the doctors try to resuscitate Kerry but even though every effort is made to save her, they lose their battle and Smithy breaks down into a flood of tears when Kerry tragically dies.
