On a chilly day near the end of December, Yuta and his friends take a short water-bus cruise. Yuta watches Hagumi with pain in his heart noticing that Hagumi is wearing the bird brooch.

Hagumi is now good friends with Yuta, Shinobu and Takumi and calls them from her hometown over the holidays. Although Takumi laughs when he sees Yuta nervous on the phone, a separate phone call makes him grow serious and rush off.

There are only eight days left before the Student Art Exhibition (Hamabi College Festival). Since professor Hanamoto is away, Hagumi has nobody to ask advice from, and her work comes to a standstill.

The boys and girls gather at the Hanamoto’s home for Yuta’s birthday party. Takumi leaves in the middle of the party and Ayumi sees him off. She still hasn’t been able to abandon her love toward him.
