Tim McIntire (July 19, 1944 – April 15, 1986) was an American character actor, probably most famous for his portrayal of disc jockey Alan Freed in the film American Hot Wax (1978). He portrayed country music singer George Jones in the 1981 television movie Stand By Your Man, which was based on the best-selling autobiography by country music singer Tammy Wynette. He portrayed country music singer George Jones in the 1981 television movie Stand By Your Man, which was based on the best-selling autobiography by country music singer Tammy Wynette. He also starred in The Sterile Cuckoo (1969), The Gumball Rally (1976), The Choirboys (1977), Brubaker (1980) and Sacred Ground (1983). He had a role in Shenandoah (1965) as one of James Stewart's sons. That same year, he guest starred in Christopher Jones's ABC western The Legend of Jesse James. McIntire also composed music for the soundtracks of such films as Jeremiah Johnson (1972) and A Boy and His Dog (1975), for which he also provided the voice of the titular dog, played by Tiger.
