In 2001, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and was nominated for Album of the Year. The album was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America in the United States with shipments over 10 million. As of May 13, 2012, the record had sold 10,598,000 copies in the US. As of 2005 the album had sold over 19 million units worldwide.
