MORE "An enjoyable, understated study of old friends spending spring vacation together, and finding that their feelings may run deeper than friendship. This enjoyable and nicely understated character study is set during spring vacation, with Ivy (Zoe Kazan) heading home to spend the holidays in New York. When her long-time friend Al (Mark Rendall) needs a place to sleep, he's welcomed into the family home. As the days pass, the pair hang out together, walking, talking, playing cards. She's in a dwindling relationship with a college boyfriend, he's flirting with a local girl, but it's pretty obvious to us, if not to them, that their feelings for each other may run deeper than friendship. Largely a two-hander, the film owes much to the engaging presence of the up-and-coming Kazan (seen recently in Revolutionary Road, she's the granddaughter of director Elia), who makes the introverted Ivy a joy to spend time with. Director Bradley Rust Gray (Salt), working again with his wife and creative collaborator So Yong Kim, has a lightness of touch that serves the story well, with pretty photography and a gentle indie soundtrack adding to the pleasures of this subtle, low-key charmer."
