Graduating from Mark Keppel High School in 1993, he attended UC Berkeley and graduated with a Philosophy (Rhetorics) degree in 1997. Terence made his film debut in Yonfan's 1998 film Bishonen opposite Daniel Wu, one of his close friends and frequent collaborators. Terence has also released a solo album in Taiwan in 1999 titled Undecided, which met with limited success. He did not return to singing until 2005. In 2005, Terence, along with Daniel Wu, Conroy Chan, and Andrew Lin formed a boyband experiment named Alive.
