Robbins achieved a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English and Drama from Liverpool University.
A career in theatre and television has seen him play many parts as well as starring with his sister Kate in shows on ITV, and presenting game shows such as Quiz Night, Bratpack, and Chain Letters.

He also appeared in Matt Lucas and David Walliams' Rock the Blind, a spin off from the series Rock Profile, as Pete Waterman and Gary Barlow's room mate "Spud". Robbins later appeared in Little Britain playing a semi-autobiographical character as Paul McCartney's former school friend. He has also been in two episodes of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. He also appeared in Come Fly With Me.
