Stijn's world collapses, however, when he learns that Carmen has breast cancer. Thus begins a cycle of hospitals, chemotherapy and radiation. Stijn does his best to be there for his wife no matter how terrible things get. But he has trouble dealing with this and thus starts living a second life -- drinking and having sexual encounters with other women -- which is no big deal for him as his heart belongs to his wife, Carmen. But then he meets Rose, who quickly becomes his oasis, with whom he can forget about cancer and stress and sadness.
