Production of The Seoul Sisters was announced on December 1, 2010 and the film is set to be finished by August 31, 2011. On the announcement of the film, it is stated that the filmmakers "plan to visit North Korea to investigate this crisis in more detail." It is unknown how the filmmakers plan on visiting the reclusive nation, as journalist visas are not available for such documentaries. The film will be produced, directed and hosted by Max Jones, a key player in the Crisis on the Korean Peninsula, having helped to secure the release of American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee in 2009.
