Synopsis The story of 'Kambakkth Ishq' revolves around two individuals - Viraj Shergill (Akshay Kumar) and Simrita Rai (Kareena Kapoor) and the bitter-sweet relationship that they share with each other. Both of them are so different from each other, a part of two entirely opposite worlds, that whenever and however they meet, only one thing happens - fireworks! Viraj is a big-time Casanova, who works as a swaggering stuntman in Hollywood. As far as the opposite sex is concerned, he has only mantra in life - “women are only good for two things…making love & making love”. On the other end of the spectrum, we have Simrita, a hothead who has the ability to stare down even the most arrogant male. If, by any chance, her stare does do the trick, she has sarcastic wit and derisive tongue to fall back on. She also has a mantra about the opposite sex - “all men are dogs”. So, what we have are two people, who are extreme opposites. However, life often tries to play jokes on them, putting them together in the most bizarre, but amusing situations. One fine day, Viraj and Simrita find themselves bound together in a manner unthinkable even in their wildest of dreams. What will happen now? Kambakkht Ishq? Later that month Kareena Kapoor was signed on to play the female lead. It is the seventh time Kumar and Kapoor are paired together on-screen. Kumar plays a Hollywood stuntman in the film and Kapoor plays a high-society girl. According to Nadiadwala, "It will be an international love story on a lavish scale." The project was originally expected to commence filming in January 2008 in Los Angeles, California with nine actors from Hollywood but due to extensive pre-production work on the film, it was later shifted to May 2008. Reports indicated that actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger was signed on to do a cameo and that the film would feature a performance from singer and actress Beyoncé Knowles.
