He has collaborated with many musicians, notably including Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Randy Newman, and The Doobie Brothers. He briefly formed a band named Little Village. Ry Cooder produced the Buena Vista Social Club album, which became a worldwide hit. Wim Wenders directed the documentary film of the same name, which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2000. He was ranked eighth on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". A 2010 ranking by Gibson placed him at number 32. LESS |

Ry Cuming left his native Australia at age 18, armed with a guitar and a surfboard, to see the world and pursue his music. A chance meeting with a record-label executive in Costa Rica led him to LA, and once there, it didn't take long for his soulful songs and introspective lyrics to land him a record deal and a spot touring with Maroon 5. We met up with Ry at the beach in Santa Monica shortly after he returned from his latest concert dates with the band.
