Richard Steinmetz (born February 16, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actor.
In May 2004, Steinmetz joined the cast of Passions as Martin Fitzgerald, the long-missing patriarch of the Lopez-Fitzgerald family.
Steinmetz has a long list of theater credits both in New York and Los Angeles and is well recognized for his role as Jeff Hartman on Loving and Jimmy Stanley on Melrose Place. In September 2006, Steinmetz was dropped to recurring status on Passions and subsequently left the show.
He has recently been seen in the Monk season seven episode "Mr. Monk Makes the Playoffs" as the character Coach Binsack.
A native of Chicago, his father was a cop on the South Side; Steinmetz graduated from high school in Federal Way, a suburb of Seattle, and played professional soccer for the Portland Timbers.
