Randall Carver (born May 25, 1946) is an American stage, television and movie actor, perhaps best recognized in his role as John Burns on the popular 1970's ABC-TV sitcom show Taxi.
The adopted son of Russell Carver, a successful businessman and banker,and his wife Virginia, a three time Life Master Bridge Player. Randy spent his early childhood in Canadian, Texas, a suburb of Amarillo. It is here that a young Carver got his first taste of acting and learned to read while holding his mother's scripts while she rehearsed for community theatre productions.

He appeared in the World Premiere of the outdoor musical "Texas" in Palo Duro Canyon. A graduate of West Texas State University, was also a member of Kappa Alpha Order and was involved in Student Politics. In 1968 he landed a small pivotal role in his first feature film with Jon Voight in Midnight Cowboy. After serving a stint in Korea as a Lieutenant and a Tank Platoon Leader on the DMZ for little over a year during the Vietnam War, Carver was then accepted for the Masters of Fine Arts Graduate Program at UCLA.
