Phasma Ex Machina is an independent supernatural thriller written and directed by Matt Osterman. Filming begins late 2008. The film is expected to be released in 2009 or early 2010. The film concerns two young brothers who build a machine that is able to tap into latent supernaturally charged environments to recall the entities trapped therein. Cody, a 20-year-old science whiz creates a machine in his garage with which he hopes to revive his deceased parents. The machine, of course, works but with unintended side effects. Much of the film is concerned with Cody's desire to pursue the perfection of his machine, usually at the cost of shirking his responsibilities to his dependent little brother, James. This theme of responsibility, both to one's own goals and to the needs of others is a recurring one throughout the film. Phasma Ex Machina is the first production of Hodag Films. It is an independent film, produced within the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) of Minnesota and the surrounding areas.
