Peggy Lipton (born August 30, 1946) is an American television actress. She played "Julie Barnes" in The Mod Squad, and Norma Jennings in Twin Peaks.
Lipton was born in New York City, the daughter of Rita Hetty (née Benson), an artist, and Harold Lipton, a corporate lawyer. Her paternal grandparents were Russian Jews; her mother was born in Dublin, Ireland, to British Jewish parents whose families had immigrated from Eastern Europe. Lipton was married to music industry mogul Quincy Jones from 1974 to 1990, with whom she has two daughters, Rashida Jones, and Kidada Jones.
Lipton signed with the Ford Modeling Agency and enjoyed a successful career. In 1964 her family moved to Los Angeles and she signed a contract with Universal Pictures the same year. She made her debut as a student at a private girls' academy in San Francisco in the NBC sitcom The John Forsythe Show (1965–1966).
