Fiorentino was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fiorentino is of Italian American Catholic background. She graduated from Washington Township High School, in Sewell, New Jersey, and is a graduate of Rosemont College in suburban Philadelphia. She is still very close to Byrum's children. She splits her time between Westport, Connecticut, and New York City. Fiorentino got her first professional role in 1985 when she starred in Vision Quest. It was not until 1994 that she became widely recognized, receiving accolades for her performance in a modern film noir, The Last Seduction, as the murderous femme fatale, Bridget.
