She may be best known for her role as Ellen Shepherd Dalton on All My Children, a role she played from 1977 to 1989.She won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1987. After leaving All My Children, she was asked to play the new character of Claudia Whittaker, elder sister of Greg Sumner (William Devane) on the primetime drama Knots Landing.
