Karen Hensel (born November 1, 1948) is an American actress. Karen is perhaps best known for the recurring role of Doris Collins, the mother of Sharon Newman, on the American soap opera The Young and the Restless. She played Doris from 1994 to 2005, and returned to the show in 2009 to resume her role as Doris Collins.

Hensel's father was in Foreign service, which resulted in her constant traveling across the globe. At 12, her family relocated to Libya, and then to Ethiopia, France, Australia and the Philippines before settling back in California. Karen attended The American College in Paris, UC Santa Barbara and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she majored in Theater Arts.
