Kacey's acting career began in 1997 when she was just 9, appearing in advertisements and stage plays. Her first notable TV role was a guest role in the BBC drama Hope and Glory starring Lenny Henry. In 2000, Kacey won the role of bully Maddie Gilks, girlfriend to Baz Wainwright (played by Thomas Hudson), in Grange Hill, where she found herself the central role in central plots during her five-year stint on the show.
