Ahdout was born in Santa Monica, California to Yahya Ahdout and Jacqueline Hayempour, Iranian Jews who left Iran to go to the U.S. with their baby daughter (J. Ahdout's older sister) in 1982 via Pakistan to Israel. Ahdout resides in Brentwood with his parents and siblings, Melody (born in Iran) and Daniel (born in California). Ahdout played Esmail Behrani in the film House of Sand and Fog, and Behrooz Araz in the television series 24. Coincidentally, he portrayed the son of a character played by Shohreh Aghdashloo in both roles. He has said in an interview that both of them were surprised to learn the other had been cast on 24.
