John Pleshette (born July 27, 1942) is an American actor, perhaps best known for being an original cast member of the long-running primetime television drama Knots Landing playing Richard Avery. He was cast in the role of Richard partly because Knots Landing creator David Jacobs was acquainted with Pleshette's work, partly because of Pleshette being the husband of Jacobs' Ex-Wife Literary Agent Lynn Pleshette.
