Harry Shannon (June 13, 1890 – July 27, 1964) was an American character actor. He often appeared in Western films. Shannon was born on a farm in Saginaw, Michigan. Developing into a first-rate musical comedy performer, Shannon went on to work in virtually all branches of live entertainment, including vaudeville and Broadway. By the 1930s, Shannon was a member of Joseph Schildkraut's Hollywood Theater Guild, which led to film assignments. By the 1930s, Shannon was a member of Joseph Schildkraut's Hollywood Theater Guild, which led to film assignments. Though he was busiest playing Irish cops and Western sheriffs, Harry Shannon is best remembered as Charles Foster Kane's alcoholic father in Orson Welles' masterpiece Citizen Kane (1941), along with Someone to Remember (1943), Alaska Highway (1943), San Quentin (1946), and Witness to Murder (1954).
