"Gypsy" is a 1959 musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Arthur Laurents. The play is based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist, and follows the dreams and efforts of her mother Rose as she raises two daughters to perform onstage. This production was directed by University of Richmond theatre professor Dorothy Holland in the fall of 2002 at the Modlin Center for the Arts. In this scene Louise (Alyson Wepplo, '05) and June (played by Richmond alumna Philena Gilmer) would like Ma Rose to marry and give up show business so they wouldn't have to do the old vaudeville act anymore.
