Trailer for the upcoming film "Fortress". Fortress is a 2011 war film directed by Michael R. Phillips and released by Bayou Pictures. The film follows the crew of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber Lucky Lass as they fly in the campaign against Italy during World War II. The pilot of a B-17 bomber is killed on a mission over Italy in 1943. A young pilot is brought in to replace him, but finds it hard to bond with the tight-nit Irish American crew. The crew are sent on a suicide mission to bomb Italy, they complete the mission but two engines are damaged and the formation leaves left them for dead. They get landing clearance from the RAF base on Malta but the Maltese runway is designed to land Spitfire fighters not B-17 bombers. The crew plan to bail out over Malta but the radio operator's parachute is ruined. The pilot tells him that they can both use his chute, he agrees but just before they jump the radio operator pushes the pilot out the door as he knows that the parachute can't support them both. The radio operator then gets in the pilots seat and puts the plane in to a vertical climb, in its damaged state it can't take the stress and falls apart taking the radio operator with it.
