ESPN is a U.S.-based global cable and satellite television channel, that is owned as a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and Hearst Corporation. The channel focuses on sports-related programming including live and recorded event telecasts, sports talk shows, and other original programming. ESPN broadcasts primarily from studios located in Bristol, Connecticut. The network also operates offices in Miami; New York City; Seattle; Charlotte; and Los Angeles. John Skipper is ESPN's current president, a position he has held since January 1, 2012. While ESPN is one of the most successful sports networks, it has been subject to criticism, which includes accusations of biased coverage, conflict of interest, and controversies with individual broadcasters and analysts. As of August 2013, approximately 97,736,000 American households receive ESPN. LESS
Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers made quite a name for himself over the weekend, when, in an attempt to hurdle the Browns' Spencer Lanning, kicked him in the head. Brown told ESPN after the game that hadn't intended to hurt anyone, and that he thought Lanning was going low. (Lanning seems to be doing OK.) Head kicks aren't typical in the NFL, so the Internet obviously went a little crazy over the play, creating dozens of parodies and remixes before the game was even over.
