Born in Manchester to an English airline pilot, and his American wife (from Arizona), Emily Beecham has dual citizenship and holds an American passport (as does her brother who moved to Seattle to pursue a career as a musician). Due to her father's profession the family did not stay in one place for long: "we were always moving so I went to about ten schools, and I was constantly missing syllabuses and redoing them", she told an interviewer. She also laughed about her "early career" as an amateur actress: " I used my imagination a lot and it was something that came naturally to me."
In 2003, she enrolled at the London Academy of Music LESS
