Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield is a 2007 American horror film starring Kane Hodder, Adrienne Frantz, Michael Berryman, Priscilla Barnes and Shawn Hoffman. It is based upon the crimes of serial killer Ed Gein, who also inspired The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Silence of the Lambs and Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.
In the late 1950s, a quiet town in rural Wisconsin is rocked by a series of gory murders and grave robberies committed by a man who has descended into madness.
It is based on the true story of Ed Gein, who skinned, disembowled, and dissected his victims. As a child, he was traumatized by his mother, a religious fanatic who taught him that sex was evil and that all women (herself excluded) were sinful.
When he kidnapped 58-year-old Bernice Worden, the police came to Gein's farmhouse and found her dismembered body, as well as parts of at least 15 other corpses.
The movie plot centers on Gein kidnapping the girlfriend of a sheriff's deputy and the race to rescue her, something that did not happen in the true story.
The DVD was released on March 6, 2007 as Video Premiere and special features include audio commentary, deleted scenes, still gallery, various audio and display LESS
