MORE Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, commonly known as Dr. Strangelove, is a 1964 black comedy film which satirizes the nuclear scare. It was directed, produced, and co-written by Stanley Kubrick, starring Peter Sellers and George C. Scott, and featuring Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, and Slim Pickens. The film is loosely based on Peter George's Cold War thriller novel Red Alert. The story concerns an unhinged United States Air Force general who orders a first strike nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. It follows the President of the United States, his advisors, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and a Royal Air Force officer as they try to recall the bombers to prevent a nuclear apocalypse. It separately follows the crew of one B-52 as they try to deliver their payload. In 1989, the United States Library of Congress included it in the first group of films selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. It was listed as number three on AFI's 100 Years...100 Laughs. LESS |
Red flags on immigrant licenses worry officials |
See All |
the investigation into illegal immigrants getting new mexico driver's licenses with forged documents is expanding. in fact, today we learned more cases will be presented to a grand jury. this after a major indictment was announced yesterday. joe vigil is here with new information tonight. i am told investigators will present a new case to a grand jury within the next couple months ...and even more cases could follow. today we got our hands on some stunning documents that really raised some red flags with investigators. this is key. only illegal immigrants who live in new mexico can get a new mexico drivers license. so why are people advertising in new york? this ad for licenses ran in a spanish newspaper there. our governor's office says the phone numbers were linked to jose luis aguirre who lives in new york. they say he was arrested in may and was involved in bringing illegals from new york and other states to new mexico to get a new mexico drivers license. "we've had a polish newspaper that had an advertisement in their native language." this raised red flags with investigators. a website in texas told people how to get a new mexico license. the state says the site even promoted so called good mvd offices to go to that may not be paying as much attention to documents. "it's really disheartening you have people in other states taking advantage of what new mexico did to be able to offer driver's licenses to the foreign nationals. they saw it as a loophole." and then there's this document we just obtained. illegal immigrants must set an appointment with the mvd to get a license and provide a contact number. one new mexico number was used as a contact 228 times. t sends up all kinds of bell whistles, flags. it can only say one thing this person is making money at it." two other new mexico numbers were used more than a hundred times. and many numbers from out of state were used multiple times as contact numbers. "they know now we are tracking area codes so it's possible they're using disposable phones. we just don't know." we asked investigators today if what they've seen recently is just the tip of iceberg. they replied by saying they certainly do not have enough investigators to work on all the possible cases.
