Disturbia stars Shia LaBeouf as a teenager who, while confined to house arrest, thinks he has witnessed a murder when spying on his suspicious neighbor, portrayed by David Morse. A year after Kale Brecht's (Shia LaBeouf) father is killed in a car accident, Kale is arrested for attacking a teacher who made a remark about his father. He is then secured with an ankle monitor and a proximity sensor which prohibits him from leaving a 100 foot (30 m) radius of his house. Kale initially satiates his boredom by playing video games, but his mother, Julie Brecht (Carrie-Anne Moss), cancels his Xbox Live and iTunes accounts to keep costs down, due to the running costs of his house arrest, and then cuts the cord of his television to get him to work a little more creatively, forcing him to find something else to do.
