Cooking with Stella is a film written by siblings Deepa Mehta and Dilip Mehta. The film is a light comedy about a Canadian diplomat (played by Lisa Ray) and her husband (Don McKellar) living in New Delhi, and their cook, Stella (Seema Biswas). It also stars Shriya Saran. Despite the film being a comedy, writer-director Dilip Mehta describes it as being "very issue-driven... an iron fist in a velvet glove." IFFLA Opening Night

8th Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles Opening Night Gala and Los Angeles Premiere of COOKING WITH STELLA. Deepa Mehta-produced "Cooking With Stella" will open the 8th Indian Film Festival Los Angeles on April 20. Toronto-based Mehta will attend with her brother Dilip, who made his feature helming debut with the film, and pic's star Lisa Ray. Fest salutes filmmakers of Indian origin. The gala, co-sponsored by SAG, Telefilm Canada and the Canadian High Consulate, will benefit the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research. "Stella" preemed at the Toronto fest in September.
