George Clifton James (born May 29, 1921) is an American actor. He is probably best known for his role as the bumbling Sheriff J.W. Pepper alongside Roger Moore in the James Bond films Live and Let Die (1973) and The Man With The Golden Gun (1974) and his role alongside Sean Connery in The Untouchables (1987). James was born in New York City, New York, the son of Grace (née Dean), a teacher, and Harry James, a journalist.
