At first a specialist in comedies and omances, Snell concentrated on Westerns and crime melodramas after 1931. He spent the mid-'30s as a staff writer for the Columbia B-unit, then moved to Monogram in the early '40s, returning to comedy with his scripts for the studio's East Side Kids and Shemp Howard-Billy Gilbert vehicles. Earle Snell freelanced during his last active decade in films; his final project was another Western, The Desperadoes Are in Town. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi LESS |
