A multiple Emmy award-winning production designer and art director whose gritty vision created realistic backdrops for such films as New Jack City (1991) and Hoodlum (1997), Charles C. Bennett's small-screen work would be what found him most recognition as he was Emmy-nominated for Roots (1977) and Chiefs (1983) before eventually taking home awards for his work on Evergreen (1985) and Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All (1994). A Louisiana native who studied at L.S.U., Bennett's work lent itself well to both the small screen and the silver screen, and as a production designer he worked on over 40 films in his 22-year career. Following complications from a liver transplant in early 2002, Bennett was in intensive care for three months before ultimately dying as a result of the surgery. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi LESS
