Although she appeared in films from 1930 to 1941, Amanda Duff is remembered mainly for playing Boris Karloff's daughter in the quasi-horror film The Devil Commands (1941). Signed to a contract with Fox after appearing in the stage play +Tovarich, brunette Duff played a supporting role in the comedy It's a Deal and then basically did cheesecake layouts until cast as the ingenue in Just Around the Corner (1938), a Shirley Temple vehicle. She played the receptionist in Hotel for Women (1939), notable mainly for launching Linda Darnell, and was the ingenue again in Mr. Moto in Danger Island (1939). The Devil Commands (1941), although a mere "B" at the time, has awarded Duff her small slice of immortality, but she loathed horror movies and retired.
