MORE Spanish director Agustín Villaronga won awards from the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Catalan Government for his first three short films, Anta Mujer (1975), Al Mayurka (1976), and Laberint (1980). Villaronga also made an auspicious feature directorial debut with the intense psychosexual thriller Tras el Cristal/In a Glass Cage (1985), which has earned a reputation as one of the most disturbing films of the 1980s. Villaronga's second feature, El Niño de la Luna/Moonchild (1989), deals with the supernatural and young children possessing unusual gifts, while his third major film, 99.9, is a stylish psychothriller with elements of surreal horror. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi LESS |
